How Does an Insert Molding Robot Work?
A typical insert molding automation cycle includes insert feeding, robot pickup, mold placement, injection molding and finished-part takeout.
Depending on the project, inserts can be supplied from trays, magazines, bowl feeders or other feeding systems. Customized EOAT can pick one or multiple inserts, position them in the mold and remove the molded product after the mold opens.
One robot can therefore perform both insert loading and part takeout when the mold, cycle and EOAT are designed for the required sequence. This approach is also used in established industrial insert molding automation systems.
